Divisions in The Netherlands
Volleyball in The Netherlands is divided into different classes based on competitiveness and playing ability.

Regional Level
Volleyball in the Netherlands is divided into different classes, based on competition level and playing skill level. Depending on the region, the class can reach up to 4th, 5th, or 6th class.

3rd Division
The highest level of playing in the regional competition. This level is comparable to NCAA D3, Serie C in Italy and lower levels of Primera Nacional in Spain.

Promotion Class
The second highest level in the regional competition. This is comparable to NCVF club teams or lower-level NJCAA in the USA, 1ª Divisione or mid-level Serie D in Italy and Autonomic or lower regional leagues in Spain.

1st Class
Is comparable to low-level club teams or intramural volleyball in the USA, 2ª Divisione or lower in Italy and lower Autonomic leagues in Spain.
National Level
The highest level of volleyball playing in The Netherlands is the premier league, followed by the super division, top division, 1st division and 2nd division.

Premier League/Super Division
The highest level of playing in the national competition. This is comparable to NCAA Division I programs in the USA, Serie A2 or top B1 teams in Italy and top Superliga teams in Spain.

Top Division
This is comparable to top NCAA D2 or strong NAIA teams in the USA, Serie B1 or top B2 teams in Italy and competitive Superliga 2 teams in Spain.

2nd Division / 1st Division
Is comparable to NCAA D2 or strong NCAA D3 in the USA, Serie B2 or strong regional teams in Italy and upper Primera Nacional or lower Superliga 2 in Spain.
